About Our Club
Ilford Sports Club is situated in South Ilford and aims to provide affordable sporting and recreational facilities for the local community and a venue for various events and functions. We particularly encourage use of our facilities by youths, minority groups and disabled users. We are a sporting organisation operating on the boundary of two of the more deprived local government wards in the country. The pavilion building opened in December 2002, following many years of planning with financial assistance from Sport England, the Jack Petchey Foundation and many local sponsors, including the London Borough of Redbridge.
Famous sporting celebrities to have come from Ilford include footballers Paul Ince and Trevor Brooking, Boxer Colin McMillan, England cricket captain Nasser Hussain, inventor of the red and yellow card in football referee Ken Aston, the famous four minute mile runner Rodger Bannister, and Commonwealth High Jump champion Dalton Grant.
Host to Ilford Football Club. Waltham Forest FC and Ilford Athletic Club as well as having its own Martial Arts, Sport in the Community and Health and Fitness programme, Ilford Sports Club has a variety of facilities to offer sports clubs, local businesses, clubs and organisations.
Ilford Sports Club prides itself on being a user friendly and family orientated sports club. The facilities at the club are first class and are accessible to both able and disabled athletes and spectators. The club also has fully licensed air conditioned members' bar and function suite.
